The Jamaican Museum and Cultural Center presents our third annual Fruitcake Competition in celebration of preserving and promoting Jamaican heritage! Join us for a festive afternoon of cake tasting, entertainment, and local vendors. Don’t miss out on hearing the history of Jamaican Christmas Cake this holiday season! All proceeds from the event will support programming for JMCC’s nonprofit mission.

The air hangs heavy with the scent of cinnamon, ginger, and rum. Sunlight streams through the kitchen window on Christmas Day, illuminating a mahogany-colored cake with a faint aroma of rum, spices, and candied fruit. This is no ordinary cake; it's Fruitcake, also called Black Cake, Rum Cake, or even Rum Plum Pudding depending on where and when in the diaspora you’ve emerged from. Vendors
Who is allowed to be a vendor?
Businesses who would like to showcase their Jamaican holiday goods or services are invited to register as a vendor for the event.
When is the deadline to register?
There are limited slots for vendors, and they will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
How much does it cost to be a vendor?
$50. All proceeds go towards supporting JMCC’s mission.
What do I need to bring?
Vendors should bring a table and all other necessary materials.
When is set-up time?
Set up time is at 2:45 PM EST on the day of the event.
Bakers
Who is allowed to enter?
Anyone, professional and non-professional Cake Bakers alike, who can bake a Jamaican Christmas cake.
When is the deadline to register?
Participants must register by November 16, 2025.
How much does it cost to compete?
$25. All proceeds go towards supporting JMCC’s mission. Competition entry does not include admission to the event, which is an additional $35.
How do I send in my cake?
Option 1: Bring your cake to the venue 1 hour before the competition (at 3:00PM EST).
Option 2: Mail your small 6-inch fruit cake in a covered cake pan with your name to arrive by November 20, 2025.

Are there prizes?
Yes! In addition to exposure to a wider community, the top three participants will have their logo featured on JMCC’s website for one year. In addition, there will be cash prizes for all three winners. The winner will take home the coveted JMCC BEST Annual Fruitcake trophy.
